RaptorTrax: The World’s Fastest Snowcat Features Cupholders, Heated Seats, and Bragging Rights
onsider it the ultimate snowmobile if you and your four closest friends want to leave the ski lift to the ‘commoners’. The RaptorTrax is a new concept vehicle built off of a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor base that professional rally driver Ken Block will be unveiling (and bragging about) later this week in Aspen, CO at the Winter X Games.
‘The World’s Fastest Snowcat’
Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Base
Designed for extreme off-road performance for such events as the Baja 100, this street-legal monster of a fuel hog boasts a 6.2 liter V8 engine that hits around 13 MPG on the open highway. With sports-car-styled tuning in an off-road package, the truck gets from 0-60 in just under 7 seconds to get you to the mountain that much faster.
Working with Ford and Special Vehicle Concepts in California, Ken Block’s goal was to create the world’s fastest snowcat for backcountry snowboarding. Aside from the paint, racks, and snow treads, the RaptorTrax also features upgrades in the form of a Whipple supercharger, full roll cage, Recaro seats, Mattracks tires and a rear-mounted winch to get out of those deep powder spots…if that could possibly even be a problem.
“This project is something I’ve had in my head for awhile now…I absolutely love my daily driver Ford Raptor, especially since I live out here in the mountains of Park City, so to build out this mountain assault vehicle with a Raptor as the base platform made total sense to me. It’s an absolute beast of a machine and I’m stoked with how it’s turned out. Next up is for me to take it deep into the backcountry ASAP to help me and some friends slay some powder on our snowboards for a video project due out later this year.” -Ken Block
